The Opportunity
Nutanix is looking for a strategic and highly collaborative leader to join our Legal team as the Director, Ethics & Compliance, Global Investigations. This is a unique opportunity to not just conduct investigations, but to design, build, and scale a world-class global investigations function. Reporting to the VP, Ethics & Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our culture of integrity. You will lead complex, high-stakes inquiries while simultaneously developing the infrastructure—policies, workflows, and data insights—that will allow our program to grow with the company. If you are a builder who thrives on cross-functional collaboration and wants to make a tangible, systemic impact at a fast-growing public company, this role is for you.
About the Team
You will be joining a Legal department that values integrity, innovation, and collaboration. We are a team that supports one another, challenges the status quo, and is deeply committed to enabling Nutanix’s business success while protecting its reputation. You will work with leaders who trust your judgment and empower you to build a program that makes a difference.
Your Role
  • Program Design & Leadership: Lead the strategic evolution of Nutanix’s internal investigations program. You will design and implement scalable investigative guidelines, case management systems, and whistleblower triage processes that can withstand future scale.
  • Complex Investigations: Personally lead and conduct sensitive, high-priority investigations into allegations of misconduct, potentially including fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest, and financial improprieties. You will deliver clear, actionable findings to executive leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner deeply with Employee Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Internal Audit, and business leadership. You will work across teams to drive consensus on remedial actions, ensure consistent disciplinary outcomes, and foster a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Systemic Improvement & Prevention: Go beyond the "case closed" stamp by using investigation data to identify trends, root causes, and control gaps. You will advise the business on process improvements and preventive measures to mitigate future risk.
What You’ll Bring
  • Significant Experience: 10+ years of legal or compliance experience, with a strong emphasis on conducting and managing complex internal investigations in a corporate or government setting. Experience with a technology company or channel distribution model is strongly preferred.
  • Leadership: Experience managing and developing high performance teams.
  • Collaborative Influence: A proven ability to build strong relationships and work effectively across diverse teams and geographies. You excel at influencing stakeholders without direct authority and navigating complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Operational Excellence: You have a "growth mindset" and a track record of building things from scratch. You don't just follow processes; you design them for efficiency and scalability.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of investigation best practices and relevant legal frameworks (e.g., FCPA, UK Bribery Act, revenue recognition principles).
  • Credentials: JD degree and active membership in at least one state bar (or local equivalent).
